Last year, Zenith replica overcame difficulties by releasing three new versions of its Defy series. Well, new year, new Defy.

2020 brings outstanding products such as Zenith Defy 21 Ultraviolet, and in 2021, things become more real with the new Zenith Defy 21 Urban Jungle. Equipped with a green ceramic case, a green strap and a hollow dial, this watch showcases the very impressive El Primero 9004 automatic movement.

Although from the perspective of case design, movement and even strap, this watch is nothing new, but it does represent the brand’s first product: this is the first time Zenith has installed the 9004 movement in green. In a ceramic case.

In the words of Gordon Gecko, green is good. Zenith calls it khaki green, which is used in the case, back cover and Cordura-effect rubber strap. The strap is actually gray, and the green rubber lining adds contrast.

The hollow dial surface has matte black and matte silver dials, adding to the tool-like matte aesthetics of Urban Jungle. It is best to see Zenith when the El Primero 9004 movement played an important role in making this watch so interesting. It is the most frequent chronograph in production today, with a timekeeping capability of 1/100 second, which is no small matter. The movement has two escapements: one for the watch and the other for the chronograph (which starts ten times faster than the movement itself).

Similar to the colorful exhibition back cover on the Defy 21 Ultraviolet, the watch uses a khaki green main panel and the oscillating weight is satin-finished.

Although this version is indeed an upgrade of aesthetic design, rather than an upgrade of mechanical design, it is still cool to see the brand continue to produce models that accommodate the monster movement. Most importantly, green ceramics is not a joke, this watch is definitely the watch we want to look at in metal.
