Breitling PREMIER HERITAGE B09 Chronograph

Breitling presented a series of new chronographs in the Premier Heritage collection this morning. Each watch recalls an important moment in the early history of the brand, and hopes to capture a little old-school style in the process. Although the split chronograph Duograph and the full-calendar Daytora provide some impressive complexity, what catches our eye is the simple manual winding B09 Chronograph.

The B09 chronograph adopts a 40 mm case and is available in 18k red gold with a white dial or a stainless steel case with a very interesting green dial, which Breitling calls “pistachio green”. Due to the manual winding B09 movement inside, the case is listed as thicker than 13 mm, making it one of the more approachable Breitling chronographs in recent memory.

The dual-register dial is classic and beautiful, with details reminiscent of the early Breitling chronographs, and played a key role in bringing complications to the wrist. The dial color is uniform, allowing the design and structure to create contrast and legibility. The registers are recessed into the dial with a circular texture, further separating them from the rest of the dial, instead of using outlines. The needle pointer follows the gorgeous dividing line embedded in the top of the tachymeter scale, which has its own raised part on the edge of the dial.

The number of polished applications appears every hour and is not affected by the sub-dial, matching the fully polished case. There is no bezel, but there is a space lip between the edge of the case and the crystal itself, which should help further limit the viewing area on the wrist. All signs indicate that this is a fairly easy-to-wear chronograph.

The B09 chronograph is equipped with a B09 manual winding movement, which can be seen through the back cover of the exhibition. The movement has an industrial appearance, with a peculiar-shaped bridge and exquisite surface treatment, so it looks quite sturdy. The column wheel chronograph movement is COSC specifications and provides a 70-hour reserve. Similarly, it fits a 13 mm thick case, making us wonder if we will see it in any Tudor watches, and considering that they are developing.

Breitling Premier Heritage Collection

With the launch of the Premier collection in 2018, this is the contemporary renaissance of men’s formal watches in the 1940s, Breitling firmly established the mission of transcending sports and aviation styles and entering more elegant markets. Both models have built-in Calibre B09 manufactured by Breitling, which is the manual winding version of the company’s flagship basic movement, with automatic winding, integrated chronograph B01, with column wheels, vertical clutch and 70-hour power reserve.

Premier B15 Duograph 42 is slightly larger, and both rose gold and stainless steel are 42 mm. The stainless steel version is equipped with a blue dial and the gold version is equipped with a black dial. The watch includes Breitling’s manual winding Calibre B15. Based on the automatic winding B03, it is the first internal movement equipped with rattrapante or rattrapante function.
