At Baselworld 2015, Chopard introduced the new Mille Miglia GTS collection, replacing the GT XL and GMT Chrono models. The new range is completely redesigned, with automatic and power-controlled versions of the in-house movement that will delight fans of vintage racing cars.
The collection consists of the Mille Miglia collection; the Classic and GTS both feature models with a retro or retro style while maintaining a sporty feel, the GPMH collection is inspired by the Formula 1 and Superfast collections of the 1970s with a modern and sophisticated design.
The Mille Miglia became the most prestigious enduro classic in the world and is now synonymous with exclusivity as only 450 carefully selected teams can compete. The race remained a fantastic event, drawing an impressive crowd over the course of four days. In 1988, Chopard became the official timekeeper of the Mille Miglia. Co-president Karl-Friedrich has always been an avid collector of historic cars and races every year. Chopard debuted a mechanical sports watch with a design directly inspired by the classic cars of the Mille Miglia races, and has produced another watch every year since.
The Mille Miglia is the backbone of the classic racing series. It consists of classic aesthetic codes but reinterprets the design features of later contemporary models. Chopard celebrates the latest edition of the competition with an annual limited edition that showcases its sportsmanship. In addition to the stainless steel case and black dial, this iconic timepiece is also known for its signature red arrows, oversized numerals and a rubber strap with a pattern similar to the tread of Dunlop racing tires from the 1960s. The Chopard Mille Milgia collection features the Calibre 01.01-C and Chopard Calibre 01.08-C, which were developed, designed and assembled entirely in the Fleurier Ebauches workshop.
The Mille Miglia GTS consists of three retro-looking models: GTS Power Control and GTS Chrono. The first two are housed in a 43mm case with a sapphire crystal caseback and Chopard in-house mechanical movement. The GTS Chrono has a 44mm case and a screw-down caseback engraved with the race logo. The three models are available in three versions, with stainless steel cases and rubber or metal bracelets or 18K gold cases fastened to the iconic rubber strap. The dial font is consistent with the Italian retro style, masculine and wide. The Mille Milgia arrow features a race number style date window. The large diameter screw-locking crown is inspired by the fuel tank caps on classic cars. The lugs feature a new shape with a flat top to ensure optimum comfort. On the GTS Chrono models, the design of the chronograph counters is directly inspired by the dashboards of historic cars, with a piston-shaped pushrod with a non-slip grip reminiscent of a brake pedal.
Speed, technology and risk-taking are values that are closely associated with the world of motorsport and are at the heart of the Chopard Mille Miglia collection. chrono4usale.co
