Six days of passionate and exciting Caribbean regatta will kick off on April 17 with the 11th Voiles de Saint-Barth Richard Mille regatta. This 2022 edition, sponsored by world champion free diver Arnaud Jerald, will also mark the start of stage three of the Caribbean Maxi Challenge, a new Caribbean circuit open to all Maxis over 60 feet.
The venue is very special: 700 sailors divided into 71 crew members have signed up to compete. Maxis, super Maxis, Multihulls, Spinnakers and Melges 24s are all ready. The overall winner in the Maxis category will win the RM 028 diver’s watch in titanium. After a two-year hiatus, Les Voiles de Saint Barth Richard Mille 2022 clearly promises to be a memorable and emotional edition.
Richard Mille, who was involved in the creation of the regatta in 2010 and has been a Championship Partner since 2019, joined the rendezvous again, this year accompanied by his freediving partner Arnaud Jerald, He is the holder of four world records and the reigning world champion in the discipline.
The organisers of Voiles de Saint Barth Richard Mille, Luc Poupon and François Tolède made no secret of their satisfaction at being selected by IMA for the Caribbean Maxi Challenge. “They said it was a great recognition of our organization’s professionalism at sea and the quality of its activities on land.»
The 11th edition will be the brand’s opportunity to present the new RM 032 Voiles de Saint Barth, a highly technical watch capable of descending to 30 atmospheres (300 meters) according to the ISO 6425 standard associated with diving watches. The titanium version worn by Arnaud Jerald, the Voiles de Saint Barth Edition, limited to 120 pieces, features a two-tone color combining Caribbean Blue Quartz TPT® and White Quartz TPT®. The constant pursuit of optimum water and water resistance has resulted in its elements being fully integrated on the case in the middle of grade 5 titanium (90% titanium and alloy). In contrast, the lugs, inserts and caseback of the carbon fiber TPT® are associated with the chronograph pusher and the grade 5 titanium rotating bezel locking pusher.
