In the new products of Jacob & Co at Baselworld 2018, a unique Astronomy dragon model was displayed.

According to the legend described by Jacob Voraginsky, St. George killed a fierce dragon, which filled the city of Sirena (a territory of modern Libya) with fear. Interestingly, compared with the two-legged winged reptile described in the mythology of European countries, this monster living in the lake is more in line with the four-legged figure in Chinese mythology. From this we can see the positioning of Swiss manufacturers on the Chinese market.

On the dial of the watch, a 3D dragon sculpture made of pure gold surrounds a small dial with hour and minute hands, a tourbillon and a miniature earth model. The body of the mythical monster is decorated with 2294 elaborately carved scales, and the effect of light can be appreciated from all directions.

Under the dome of the huge submarine hatch, a four-armed carousel surrounds the dial. At the end of each arm is the display of hours and minutes, the earth is represented by a platinum sphere, a one-carat diamond-shaped diamond, and finally a three-axis tourbillon. The tourbillon rotates every sixty seconds, the second axis that carries the entire frame rotates every five minutes, and the arm that carries the tourbillon rotates every 20 minutes. Creating such a movement is not without challenges. Surprisingly, a trace of traditional watchmaking can be found in this amazing piece. The Grand Feu enamel uses a hand-made earth sphere with extraordinary details, and the Roman numerals on the hour and minute hands add a classic charm. In order to make this piece wear-resistant, the structure of the watch case is made of polycarbonate composite material, which can be chained through its 18k rose gold back cover to ensure that the outline remains perfectly round.
