The answer is the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon, Jacob & Co.’s interpretation of a high-end sports watch, featuring an attractive light blue titanium case with white accents. Equipped with a sophisticated column-wheel chronograph and one-minute flying tourbillon, this watch has amazing elasticity and can even accompany you on diving.

The Epic X series, as the name suggests, uses the letter X as a design theme, extending from the claw lugs and running across the dial with double vertical bars. The creation of Jacob & Co., the powerful structure of the 47mm titanium case has a metallic blue PVD finish and a smooth satin finish. The signature lugs extend outward from the sloping bezel and are angled at an angle to hug the white rubber strap. The steep slope of the lugs is a design feature that allows the watch to fit a wider range of wrist sizes, although the 14mm case height and prominent pushers and angular lugs give it a bold XL Jacob & Co. visual presence .

The oversized titanium pusher guard for the chronograph on the right is balanced by the protruding elements on the left side of the case. The screw-down crown at 10 o’clock provides an additional function as a countdown timer in conjunction with the internal rotating minute track on the dial. However, combined with the case’s impressive 200m water resistance, the black 10-minute inner part of the aluminium rotating minute track can also be used as a diving bezel, making it almost a fully functional diving watch. Constructed by a wide sloping bezel and a sloping rotating minute track, the blue mineral glass dial is relatively small. The dial of the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is crossed by thick double horizontal bars to form an X, and they are also a light blue to match the case. With its double compound layout, two light blue chronograph counters with white markers – the running seconds at 9 o’clock and the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock – are placed horizontally in the center of the dial, just above the one-minute aperture6 Flying tourbillon at o’clock. To enhance the viewing pleasure of the tourbillon, there is no upper bridge, and the crescent-shaped hollow frame is at the same level as the dial, creating a continuous effect.

Powered by the automatic JCAA09 chronograph movement, the movement is beautifully crafted and can be seen beneath the blue mineral glass, which is in turn protected by a sapphire crystal. Bringing the X-pattern of the dial to the movement, the polished bridges are also X-shaped. The anthracite rotor is skeletonized and has “Jacob & Co. Genève” engraving in red lacquer. The movement beats at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 48 hours.

The watch comes with a white rubber strap with an inflatable honeycomb pattern and a titanium deployment clasp. The first 99 of the Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono Tourbillon will be produced in this summery blue-and-white color scheme; it remains to be seen whether there will be versions in different colors in the future.
